Welcome to the Zhou Group!

Our group’s primary research focus is on the electroanalysis of single particles, both in collision and immobilized states. The main objective is to uncover the electrochemical reaction processes and mechanisms occurring at individual particle level and extrapolate this understanding to fluidized electrochemical systems. Meanwhile, we aim to extend our investigations to include the impact of soft particles, such as cells and vesicles, using single-particle impact electrochemistry. Furthermore, our expertise and advanced instrumentation in dip-pen nanolithography enable us to explore the construction of patterning platforms for combinatorial analysis, sensing, and screening purposes.

Our group is situated in the Institute of Chemical Biology and Nanomedicine (ICBN) on the main campus of Hunan University. We are affiliated with both the State Key Laboratory of Chem/Biosensing and Chemometrics and the Provincial Key Laboratory of Biomacromolecular Chemical Biology. Within our group, we have access to a wide range of advanced scientific instruments, including electrochemical workstations such as Autolab with an ECD module and CHI, a rotating disk electrode system, an in situ GC analysis system, electrochemical scanning electrochemical cell microscopy (SECCM), electrochemiluminescence instrument, Tera-Fab (both M and E series), and more. Our students benefit from sufficient funding and an excellent office/laboratory environment. Presently, the Zhou research group leads three National Natural Science Foundation Programs (国家自然科学基金优秀青年项目、面上项目、青年项目) and four Provincial/ministerial-level projects (湖南省高新技术引领计划、科技部“助力经济2020”重点专项、湖南省“湖湘青年英才”项目、湖南省“优秀青年”项目).

The Zhou group warmly welcomes all graduate students and undergraduates who have an interest in our research topics. Additionally, we currently have 2-3 openings for postdoc positions. For more information on our ongoing projects, please visit the Research page.
